Fete de la Musique à Toulouse

If any of my readers have been to New Orleans, this video may bring back some memories to you. Obviously New Orleans has a heavy French influence, so walking through the streets and corridors in Toulouse you understand the impact of France’s architecture and design on the U.S. city. However, this street performance, reminiscent of a “second line parade,” shows influence can flow both ways.

This video was taken Sunday morning (the dawn of the fete de la musique, also known as World Music Day, in Toulouse). The fete de la musique is an annual celebration held throughout more than 100 countries during which bands and musicians perform on street corners across the city for an evening of live music. Unfortunately we were unable to attend the festivities later in the day, but did enjoy our impromptu breakfast performance.
