I said that to Matt this morning while sitting on our couch. It was a bit surreal knowing that I am officially a freelance travel writer, blogger and author (although my books have yet to be published).
I ended up wrapping up things at my old job yesterday so they could set up my desk for a new member of the team starting on Monday. So my last day was a day earlier than anticipated (not that I’m complaining). Saying goodbye to everyone was bittersweet. As excited as I am to be embarking on this journey and chasing my dream, I’ll miss the great people I worked with at the bank. Everyone seemed genuinely sad I was leaving which made me feel I made a difference in the short time I was there.
I’m horrible at goodbyes, but I made my rounds and had a final happy hour with a couple of the women I worked with (thanks Elizabeth and Maria!). We did a happy hour with my team in Corporate Communications a day earlier and I was able to set up lunches and happy hours with some of the other teammates I worked with over the past couple of weeks. It’s been happy hour central around here lately.
After Holy Thursday mass last night, Matt raised a toast to me and my new career. It’s amazing to have a husband who is so supportive of my dreams and truly believes in my ability to turn this into a career.

So, today is the first day of my new career. To quote one of my favorite musicals, Wicked, “I couldn’t be happier!”
Get back to work!!!
